For this quilt, I referred to a very old sketch I had made but never used. I was interested to explore how I might make fairly convincing water. I used various layers of tulle and stitching with metallic thread. I was particularly happy with how it turned out. I also felt like I had found some fairly interesting project potential that merited further exploration in an old sketchbook.
I decided, a bit late that I had a theme for my journal quilts after all. With the exception of February, my quilts would portray bits of nature that I could explore around my home in the woods. The rocky stream is very like the creek that runs past my home.
