Into the Sunset

This quilt was made as an example of a pieced landscape for my On Land and Sea Class at Quilt University. Typically, I work mostly with applique, but years ago I enjoyed piecing quite a lot and the slightly abstract quality that results from breaking the landscape down into piece-able shapes.  So I went back to my piecing roots and made this quilt.  An additional goal was to break away from my usual cool color scheme and try something warmer.  I thought the resulting quilt had the look of some western lake, perhaps in Utah or Nevada.
