Quilt University Classes
Suggested Skill Requirements

My classes can, of course, be taken in any order. However, the skills in the more advanced classes such as Viewpoints, Flower Power and On Land and Sea may build on those learned in the other classes. There is some overlap between the classes, in other words some of the discussion in On Land and Sea will expand on material covered in Miniature Landscapes, and will include information on how to use Embellishments specifically in landscapes. Upside Down Applique is also an extremely useful technique to bring into On Land and Sea or Flower Power.

* Classes marked with an asterisk are best for people who feel comfortable with their sewing machines.

All classes require basic sewing skills: you need to be able to thread your machine and sew a straight stitch, you should be able to cut out pattern pieces and understand seam allowances.

All classes except To Bead or not to Bead are machine classes. To Bead or not to Bead can be taken in any order, at any time by all skill levels. It is a hand beading class.

On Land and Sea can be adapted in part for hand applique by experienced applique aficionados.

Free-motion sewing is required in Machine Embellished SurfacesOn Land and SeaUpside Down Applique and Flower Power however, it is a skill that can be learned during the class.  Don't hesitate to sign up for these classes just because you have not done free-motion stitching before.

For those who have never done a landscape, I recommend taking Miniature Fabric Landscapes before On Land and Sea.   Miniature Fabric Landscapes is an introductory class.  On Land and Sea is a more advanced class.

Flower Power is an advanced class. It is helpful to take Upside-Down Applique before Flower Power but is not required.

Registration for all classes takes place at Quilt University. Not all classes are offered all times. See my schedule of QU classes for more information.

Feel free to contact me (sbritt @ swva.net) if you have any questions about my classes. I want you to have the best experience possible. (Remove spaces from email address for it to work.)
